With Airline Tickets Going Up, Drive for Less with Your Texas Auto Insurance Policy
With summer approaching, many of us are beginning to think of our travel arrangements for various vacations and trips. Off to your best friend's wedding? Taking a family vacation to the Grand Canyon? Maybe you're just taking a week off to go somehwere ... ANYWHERE... that isn't your office.
Unfortunately, many airlines are raising their prices. This makes planning these trips rather difficult for those of us that are pinching our pennies. While they blame the rising cost of fuel, many of us are having a bit of sticker shock when we get to the pricing page on the online ticket reservation website. Just how high are these prices rising? And will they continue to go up?
The Houston Chronicle reports that JetBlue and Southwest are two of the airlines raising their fares. At an average of $10 per round trip, prices are going up. Other airlines joining in on the Price-Hike-Party are United, Delta, American and US Airways. In 2011 alone, the airlines raised their fares about a dozen times as the price of fuel continued to increase. While ten dollars doesn't seem that overwhelming right now, if they do this a dozen more times in 2012, by the end of the year, we'll be having a hard time buying these plane tickets!
Because of these higher prices, more families across the country are opting for the good ol' fashioned American road trip. While it may take longer to get there, the drive is much cheaper. Other positives? You don't have to deal with long security lines and packing all your liquids in tiny bottles!
